Allow Youtube with child app rating set to 12+

I want to install Youtube and Youtube Music on my son's IPhone but I have the age limit for apps set to 12+ and both of these apps are 17+. Is there a way to grant permission to these two apps only. I don't want to raise his app age limit to 17+, since that will allow him to download anything. My understanding is that I can use Google Family Link to restrict content on both of these apps to match his age. I see where I can allow or restrict Apple specific apps but it doesn't allow changes for 3rd party apps.

Hi Atreides603,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. At this time, you can't grant permission for certain apps that are not built-in apps as mentioned in: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

"You can restrict the use of built-in apps or features. If you turn off an app or feature, the app or feature won't be deleted, it's just temporarily hidden from your Home Screen. For example, if you turn off Mail, the Mail app won't appear on your Home Screen until you turn it back on.To change your Allowed Apps:Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.Enter your Screen Time passcode. Tap Allowed Apps. Select the apps that you want to allow."

If you would like to see changes to this, we are always looking for ways to improve our products, so we encourage you to leave feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

This is the best way to have your voice heard by our designers and engineers.

Cheers!
