Editing in Final Cut Pro on SSD

I am editing in Final Cut Pro on an external SSD.

Should I have only the video files on the SSD or should I have both the video files and the FCP Library? Will it be any difference in speed and performance if I have the video files in one place and the library in another place?

There is no problem in having on the same external SSD. That exactly what I do. My working library is on an external SSD and the media is on that same SSD, but outside the library. I doubt that you will notice any difference in speed if you have them in different SSD, vs them being on the same. The old mantra of “different platters” did make sense when using rotating hard drives but not with SSD.
