I am getting an Apple Studio Display to connect to my M1 MacBook Pro in clamshell mode. Is there away to connect external speakers to the Studio Display via the USB-C connectors to maintain the single cable connection to the MacBook Pro?

Just plug the speakers into the 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of the Studio Mac. .
You might consider using a separate USB audio interface - simple versions that don't require additional drivers can be found for next to nothing, or you can go fancy with a good USB DAC - connected to a USB port on the monitor.
There isn't a built-in audio connector on the display.
I wanted to put this in the Studio Display Community that was mentioned, but that was not available to select. Now I see that there is only the “Display” Community that had previously existed. I can’t find a way to move this to a different Community so I will start a new post there. Sorry for the clutter.
OP is asking about the new display, not the computer.
