Apple Watch keeps tracking sleep if I wake up early

I sometimes get up very early, earlier than the scheduled wake up time. In that case, I turn off the sleep focus on my watch and go about my day. However, the watch keeps tracking sleep until the scheduled wake up time. Since I've been moving around, heart rate and such are are not accurate.

I end up manually deleting those sleep & in-bed times from the Health App. However, why doesn't it stop tracking when I disable sleep focus mode? Is there a way to force it to think I'm awake?

Hey paulmeyers42,

Sounds like you're seeing sleep being tracked while actually awake at times when getting up really early. Since your Apple Watch uses motion to determine whether you're still sleeping, there's not a way to necessarily force your watch to know you're awake as this should be detected automatically.

Turning off the Sleep focus should only impact notifications. We'd suggest going through the steps in the 'Getting more accurate results with your Apple Watch' section here: Track your sleep on Apple Watch and use Sleep on iPhone

We hope this information helps out. Take care!
