"iCloud Drive may not work properly." MacBook Air M1

I'm getting the above message after updating to MacOS 12.3 (Monterey). The prompt tells me to check the iCloud preference pane, and that the system is having a problem communicating with a helper application. Anyone have any ideas about what to do? (I'm about to travel out of town, and I'd prefer to bring this laptop with me.) Thanks in advance!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3
