The USB-C connections are finicky enough. It does not help that I need to pull them out and replug them after a restart in order for them to be recognized. The ports are getting unnecessary wear and tear. Is there a software method to reset those connections?

If you're connecting to your router or modem via a USB-C cable, my suggestion is to use either WiFi or Ethernet cable. I've had a half dozen or more cable modems and all of them were flakey with a USB connection: LinkSys, Motorola, Netgear, D-Link ... all of them.

I am using Anker USB-C to ethernet dongles and I have the wifi off. I have updated to the latest driver for the Anker dongles and still have the same problem. The MBP with Touch Bar does not have a straight ethernet connection unfortunately.
