iPhone 13 Pro Max iOS 15.4
this issue has only started to occur after the iOS 15.4 update. When I either click a link & a new tab opens or I select open in new tab the search bar/ url bar is made smaller— a display issue, screenshot below: anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions?

It looks like you're noticing that your search bar is smaller since updating your iPhone. From the screenshot, it appears that you are using Private Browsing. Try turning off Private Browsing and restart your iPhone to see if that resolves the issue
How to turn off Private Browsing
1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch.
2. Tap the Tabs button.
3. Tap Privateto show the Tab Groups list.
4. Tap [number] Tabs, then tap Done.

Are you trying to move the address bar from the bottom of the screen and get it back to the top? If that is the case, go to Settings>Safari. Then go to the Tabs section and select Single Tab instead of Tab Bar which is what should be checked now. That will move the Address Bar back to the top.
Try Force closing Safari. Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support See if that makes a difference. I've not noticed that ever happen on my device.
I updated to iOS 15.5 & no longer have the issue.
I'm sorry, but I've not experienced that, and what I've provided is the only troubleshooting I would know to try and correct it. You can use the Get Support link at the top of the page here to contact Apple Support, or if you have an Apple Store close by, you can make a Genius Bar appointment and have Apple examine the device for you. You already showed me the differences in another screenshot. Did you contact Apple? What did they say?
Did you ever manage to resolve this issue? I have the same issue. The bug was likely introduced in iOS 15.4, which was released on March 14, 2022.
Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I am just in dark mode & not in private browsing. Also tried restarting the iPhone & a hard restart, still the same issue.
Here's a new screenshot: notice where the red 1 is (that's the standard size of the URL bar) & notice the size of the current tab bar where the red 2 is, extremely small.
Thank you for your suggestion, unfortunately I have already tried that & it does not help.
