FaceTime “waiting for others”

Ever since updating my phone to iOS 15 FaceTime no longer lets me call my iCloud account to my son’s iPad which is signed in with my iCloud account. Why is this happening? It leaves the comment “waiting for others” when I attempt to FaceTime the iPad using my iCloud account or phone number. I always used to be able to call the iPad using my iCloud account information until I made this iOS update. Please help fix. We use it for emergencies.

Greetings Koonce20,

In order to make FaceTime calls from your iPhone to an iPad it is recommended that each user has their own Apple ID account.

Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID

On the iPad, you can ensure which numbers or emails addresses are reachable in FaceTime from Settings > FaceTime on the iPad.

Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime

Take care.

Thank you for the reply. This has never been an issue before. My child is a minor and not yet appropriate to have their own Apple ID and/or phone which is why they use my iPad to call for facetime or emergencies. I am not even sure how I would set them up with a separate Apple ID as they do not have email, phone, etc and all of the info would link back to my phone and email which is already attached to my Apple ID. Regardless, something recently changed with IOS 15 update that now causes this error. I've seen a few other posts with the same complaint/error and hopefully there will be a fix in the future. Like I said, it has never been a problem previously.
