iPad internal microphone works for camera app, but not for zoom, GarageBand, voicememo

says it in the title…the internal microphone on my 8th gen ipad works for the camera/video app (crystal clear audio), and Siri can hear me just fine, but when it comes to GarageBand and zoom and voicememo, it doesn’t pick anything up but muffled fuzz. The Zoom audio was working up until a few weeks ago, I suspect it stopped working after I updated my iPad…..but it hasn’t worked for GarageBand since I got the device in November, which I didn’t think about too much seeing as I rarely use it, but when zoom was affected I remembered the GB problem, then I went on to test voicememo and the camera audio. I saw Zoom had an update so I thought that would fix it, but no go.

Welcome Deathicorn,

It sounds like your microphone isn't working in GarageBand, Zoom or Voice Memos.

We'd recommend trying out these steps: If the microphones on your iPad aren't working

If the microphone doesn't work in a specific app
1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
2. Make sure that the app is enabled.
3. If the app has permission to access your microphone, or if it isn't listed, contact the app developer.

You mentioned it doesn't work in Voice Memos. Does it work for FaceTime audio and video calls?

If so, then it would be best to connect with Apple Support: Get Support

They'll need to take it from here.

Wishing you well, cheers.
