Thumbnails too small in "OPEN" dialog box (not talking about Finder)

I have recently made the switch from Windows to Mac and am amazed that Mac still doesn't have a way to make icons LARGER inside an "OPEN" dialog box. It is the most asinine lack of a feature for an O/S and computer that are designed for creatives.

When using "File / Open" in most applications the thumbnail icons are way too small to determine which image or video file I need to select. In finder there is a slider to make icons larger, but when opening a document from within an application there is not. By leaving this feature out you are forcing the user to have to open FINDER to locate files - then drag them into the application. This turns what should be a simple one-stop operation into a more time consuming Two or three step operation.

PLEASE add a thumbnail size slider to the File / Open dialog box.
