Pencil and new iPad Air

Is it possible to close an app on the new iPad Air with the pencil? I like to use the pencil for scrolling rather than my finger to keep fingerprints at a minimum on the screen

No sorry. You'll still need to use your finger for that purpose.

If you don't like finger prints on your screen, give serious thought to picking up the Apple Magic Keyboard for your new iPad Air. It has a trackpad and you can do just about anything, including all the scrolling you want, without ever touching the iPad Screen.
