Problems connecting Dell KB7221W keyboard to MacBook Pro Bluetooth

Hi,

I can't get the keyboard to connect by bluetooth. I can get the keyboard into discover mode and the the Mac sees it in the bluetooth preferences window. When I go to connect it gives a code onscreen to type onto the device which I do and it says connected but still doesn't work. I've gone through process a number of times without success!

Hello ppeck11,

Do you happen to have any other Bluetooth accessories you can try pairing to the Mac, just to test things out? This can help to see if Bluetooth on the Mac is working normally, and check to see if the issue is with the keyboard in question.

If you haven't yet, it may help to try a standard restart of the Mac: Shut down or restart Mac

It can also be beneficial to try testing things out in a newly created Admin user account, which helps to rule out any user-specific issues, and see if it's system-wide. If needed, you can find steps on making an additional user account in System Preferences > Users & Groups here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Cheers.

Hello ppeck11,

So if all other Bluetooth devices are working fine, including other keyboards, then the Bluetooth on the computer seems to be working as it should. If the issue is only with that one specific keyboard, then the issue would be with the keyboard.

Because it's a keyboard for a Windows device (Dell) your best bet would be to contact the manufacturer to see if it can be setup with a Mac, and also if any drivers need to be installed to get it to work with a Mac.

Cheers!
