Emails deleted on phone will not delete from computer

Hello!

I have an Exchange account that I use with Apple Mail on my iPhone and MacBook. But when I delete an email on my phone, it not only remains on my computer, but gives me an error message if I try to delete it again. I've tried shutting off the account and re-adding it on my computer - it worked once, but the problem persisted and last time I tried it, it had no effect. I've also seen advice about changing the IMAP pathway or something, but I can't figure out where to access that option. Any tips would be appreciated!
