Use two Studio Displays for stereo output?

I plan to use two Studio Displays with a Mac Studio computer (I am currently using one Studio Display as a secondary display with an iMac Pro). It appears that you can only use one display for sound output — Is it possible to configure the sound output to utilize the speakers in both Studio Displays (left and right channel)? Seems like a waste to only use one set of speakers.

Im using Loopback for feeding the left channel to the left thunderbolt screen (TBS) and the right channel to the other TBS. That makes a stereo image when sitting in front and middle of the two. Really nice another channel goes to a subwoofer. Apple should add further routing capability to the Audio MIDI Setup utility. But that will probably not come in the near future. Cheers - Theo

Thanks, I will look into this when I get my system set up.

I see there is a free trial for Loopback.. I would be reluctant to spend $100 before seeing if it solves my issue. The software may be somewhat "overkill" for my needs, but seems it could be very useful for more complex usage. It seems a little odd to me that Apple wouldn't build this functionality into the OS (I mean using audio on two studio displays, not all the capability of Loopback). Using two studio displays will be quite common usage.

One of my concerns about using Loopback (besides cost) is I suspect you will lose features like Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos (maybe not). That is one reason why I think Apple should build this capability into the OS... perhaps they eventually will.

Many people use two displays. The audio capability adds significant cost to the display, but half of this additional cost is wasted when you use two displays. It would be a selling point for Apple if the implemented this feature.

Seems like a poor design/marketing decision by Apple.
