There is no visible record of authorizations, only associations. See Authorization vs. association - Apple Community. You can deauthorize all then choose which of the computers you can readily access you want to authorize again. Make a list.

Thanks for the description of the way things are. it relieves me from looking for something that apparently does not exist. The problem remains regarding how to find out what computers are authorized and consequently which computers I want to authorize once I deauthorize them all.

There is no notification that I should keep a list of computers I am authorizing as I authorize them; in fact, in my world, it seems like something that the computer system would be keeping track of for me.. So, I don't have a notebook of lists of computers authorized, associated, or otherwise involved with me. If I deauthorize them all, I will not know what I have deauthorized until I find that it no longer works......generating a real AARRGGHH moment.

I am grateful for your response including the link explaining the apple language words authorization and association. Thank you for your help. I will gird my self for the repercussions of deauthorizing. TT

How many computers do you use on a regular basis where you've installed iTunes? Two or three is usually enough for most people, e.g. one at home, one at work, and perhaps an additional laptop. You only need to maintain a list if for some reason you're at the limit and are going to regularly deauthorize one computer so you can authorize another.

I understand your point, but please understand that I have been using Apple since the 1st Macintosh in 1984, I don't even know when I got what is now called an Apple ID. With 4 children, a wife, and a company, I have had many devices at any one time and the Apple universe has not had consistent rules, etc. so I don't know the number I have had with my ID.

Having said that, you do give me an idea; kids are gone, no more company, just my wife and I for 4 computers. If my wife and I can (help me with the Apple words here) each have an Apple ID but have the two Apple IDs have the same authorization(?is that the Apple word? so that both of us have the same access to our iTunes account and our music, then I could deauthorize all and authorize my 2 computers on my current Apple ID and her 2 computers on her own Apple ID. Surely, others have had such issues.

Can you point me to a link that addresses this sort of situation? That would be a very big help. Thank you very much for your patience and helpful responses. TT

Authorization only applies to computers. Five authorizations is enough for four computers, so even if you and your wife want to share DRM protected purchases you have made with each other you can potentially authorize all four for each of your Apple IDs, otherwise you'll only need to reauthorize the two computers you use to store your iTunes libraries and that you might use to access your purchase history or an iCloud Music Library. Your wife doesn't need to do anything unless she too is being told that she cannot authorize a computer she wants to use with her Apple ID.
