Tab and CapsLock keys stopped working

I have a MacBook Air A1466 with Monterey 12.3 installed. 2 days ago I noticed that cmd+tab combination was not working. After a few tests, I realised that the tab key was the problem. I updated my operating system, thinking this could solve the problem but it didn't. Yesterday, CapsLock key stopped working suddenly as well.


What I tried and didn't work:

  • reset SMC and NVRAM
  • made a diagnose test, no errors were found
  • cleaned the keyboard with a compressed air spray
  • pressed alt key 5 times
  • rebooted in safe mode - at first those 2 keys were working, then they stopped
  • created a new user, same behaviour


So basically, nothing worked. I was thinking of buying a trackpad cable, because I read it might solve the problem, but I'm not having a problem with the whole keyboard or trackpad, just with these 2 keys.

Do you have any advice for me, because I can't find a solution and it drives me crazy.
