Hi I need help restoring my imac 2009

it is current in recovery mode.. I tried doing the back on time machine from my mac book .. i cant restore or select that time machine back up.. It doesnt allow me to reinstall OSX because it tells me to sign inwith my apple id and when I do it shows the email or password is incorrect. yet I get a verification notif. saying I signed in (to allow) and it gives me the codes yet i cant imput...

What exactly are you wanting to do? Restore data from TimeMachine, reinstall your OS or both?


If you know you have a good backup, and if you want to reinstall your OS, here's what you do. Read the entire article as there are two approaches: How to reinstall macOS - Apple Support


Restoring your OS from the Recovery Panel retains your data, apps and settings. No data migration needed.


Reinstalling after erasing the drive allows you to migrate your data from TM.
