I have seen many inquiries regarding this same issue. It started with ios 15. I have tried all the work arounds. I am now on ios 15.4. Still having the problem. Apple needs to fix ios 15. Before you ask, yes I have plenty of memory. I have done restarts, etc, etc, etc. Is there a way to back up all my books to apply to another app?

That was my next step, but then looked into deleting the Books App entirely and re-downloading. I was originally hesitant to do that bc most apps say all content will be lost if you delete the app. However, when deleting the Books App, it says that all content is still stored in iCloud… so I gave it a try. I deleted the Books App, restarted my iPad, then re-downloaded the Books App. All content was still there and the App doesn’t crash anymore when opening, scrolling through, or emailing a file.

Seems there are several ways:
In the short term: Access your library across devices
You can keep your library and collections updated across all your devices where you’re signed in with the same Apple ID.
Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, turn on iCloud Drive, then turn on Books.

Ever since I installed 15.4, the Apple Books App immediately crashes when I try to open a file there—both on my iPad Mini 5 and on my iPhone 6s Plus. The app was fine on my iPad with 15.3. IDK about my older iPhone—was on 14.8 before & just installed 15 with the 15.4 version. Very frustrating
If I open a book from “Collections” it disappears after about 20 seconds. If I open the same book directly from the library, it seems to be OK. I also noticed that all the books in a given collection will disappear and later magically reappear.

I tried a little trick… opened the Books app on my iPhone when on cellular… took a while but the PDFs refreshed. Then I could open them on my iPhone with WiFi. No luck with my iPad, however, since it’s WiFi only.
Janine. Thank you for that. Mine when I download a new book seems to delete all my books then redownloads them. So frustrating. When you deleted the app and redownloaded did the books come back in the folders they were in all need to be put back into individual folders

It seems like they all did, but every time I open the books app—even though the items are there—I have to wait for everything to refresh, rather than being able to see the 1st page of each item. I can scroll faster than the files can refresh. Very annoying
Still no luck with my iPad, unfortunately.
