Iphone 12 Pro Issue not ringing for known contacts

I have begun having a weird problem. When someone calls me I get three different types of experiences. 1. When people on my favorites list call, the phone rings and vibrates for a few cycles, if I don't pick up it goes to voice mail

2.When a call comes in labeled as spam I get the same thing, it rings a few times and then goes to voice mail.

3.If someone from my contact list calls, it rings for half a cycle and then it goes immediately to voice mail. As you might guess this is a huge problem.

I do have "silence unknown callers" switched on, but is should not be blocking callers in my contact list. Any suggestions, thoughts? Software and carrier settings both are current, no updates are showing.

Hi mastertrust,

It definitely sounds like some things are going on with the call handling on incoming calls. When Silence Unknown Callers is turned on in iOS, you may see a banner alert appear on the iPhone, but the iPhone shouldn't ring at all when it's an unknown caller. Do you have any other call handling apps installed on the iPhone, or any call handling features enabled from the wireless carrier? Sometimes when call handling options are enabled from multiple sources, they can conflict with each other. If there is a third party app or feature enabled, we would suggest trying to remove the app or temporarily turn the feature off, to see if the behavior improves.

The steps in If you can't make or receive calls on your iPhone may help as well.

mastertrust,

That is a good step to try to test the iPhone to see if the behavior occurs when the iPhone is reset to factory settings without a backup installed. Once restored and set up as new you’ll want to test it to see if the issue continues. If the issue does remain, we would suggest to continue working with Apple support directly.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day.
