Set up
I have downloaded the app to my smart tv but am not able to open it . I ask me for a itunes account but not sure if that was set up correctly

You would need to have an Apple ID account that has all the properties needed for iTunes Store services. Personal details, a verified email address (respond to test message), and a valid payment method.
If you already have an Apple ID account for e.g. your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, then use that.
If you do not have an Apple ID account yet, then you can create one. How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support
If you just created an account, then read the page for verification of possibly missed steps.
