Gaps in loop playback

We use a pink noise song on Apple Music on loop to help with baby sleep. In last week or so we get a 1-2 second gap every few loops. It plays through a HomePod. Since the ‘song’ is only 2:30 long it is a pain.

is this just a bug or is their a setting that can remove this? As I said it didn’t happen a few weeks ago.

I discovered the same thing recently after an update to iOS 15.4.1 - after a bit of searching around, I found a mention on a forum that suggested the tracks you are playing have to be downloaded on to your device for them to repeat without a gap. Initially I thought this solved the issue, but then only intermittently. Also with some tracks, it only seems to work when the screen is active (either locked or unlocked) for some reason.

Another suggestion I saw was to put the track you want to repeat in its own playlist and set the playlist to repeat and this appears to work! Bit of a faff but not too much of an issue if it's only really the one track you're looking to be able to play on loop.

Apple Music gapless playback has been for me unfortunately a hit or miss lately. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It used to be more reliable in the past Music app versions.

As a workaround, if you own a Mac, is to play the pink noise through it, choosing the cross fade option. Unfortunately this feature isn't available on iOS.

Another option is to use a specific app generating continuous pink noise sound. Look at App Store – I guess you can find a few of them.

A similar app, although non offering specifically pink noise sound, is Hästens Restore which has a variety of mood categorized sounds:

+1. Same problem. Seems to be an issue with a recent update. :(

Worked fine for over a year then suddenly I have a gap in things I recorded and had edited so there was a seemless loop. Now there’s a jarring gap. Not good.

As someone else noted, if the Music app on my iPhone is open, screen on, there is no gap. If I switch to a different window or close the window the gap appears.

Also doesn’t matter if it’s downloaded or in a playlist. Seems to relate to the app being open from what I’m experiencing.

Hope someone reads this and fixes it. Grrrr.
