Apple Trade In Eligibility

I know the best way to find out is by visiting an apple store, but does an iPhone have to be in 100% working condition to be eligible for trade in?

My iPhone 8 is not physically damaged, but it was water damaged at one point, and cleaned by a 3rd party. The only thing that doesn’t work is the ambient light sensor to adjust the brightness of the screen.

any ideas?

iPhone Trade in I’m trying to see if my iPhone XS Max is able to be traded in with the wear it has. The screen is in good condition and the back is cracked in several places, mostly the middle, but not completely shattered. No big pieces of glass have fallen off the back, but some dust has come off. All the buttons work properly and there are no problems with the touch screen or cameras, but I’m not sure where this would fall on the list of requirements to be traded in. Is my phone able to be traded up in the condition it is in?
