messages crashes on mac osx 12.3 monterey

Upgraded my 2011 Macbook Pro 15" to 12.3. Since the upgrade, Messages is crashing every few minutes. Created a new user to isolate the problem. Still occurs. Is this a known bug?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.3

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2011) is not supported for macOS Monterey. If you hacked your Mac to upgrade, you need to create a macOS High Sierra bootable installer to erase and reinstall macOS High Sierra and revert back to where you need to be: How to create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support.

If you accidentally said "MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2011)", and actually have a 2015 or newer MacBook Pro that is supported for macOS Monterey, see: If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac - Apple Support.
