iOS wants permission to delete everything

I was just asked by my phone to re enter my google password. Not unusual. But today I got a new screen saying that I need to give iOS access, to read, delete emails and contacts. I find it odd that iOS would ever need to delete my emails or contacts. Have I been hacked? I have never seen this before.

That's not iOS asking for permission. It is google asking you to give iOS permission to access your gmail.

You have not been hacked. If you don't give it permission, then you won't be able to access the data in your google accounts with your phone.

Hi dkgrant61,

Which version of iOS are you using on your iPhone? The reason we ask is that newer versions of iOS have additional privacy options, which allow you to further control what apps can do within iOS. We have more information about that in About privacy and Location Services in iOS and iPadOS

If the article above doesn't help, you may also want to contact Google as well, and see if they've added any additional security features to their apps. Here's how to find their contact information: How to contact an app developer

Best regards!
