Old ipad

I have a first generation ipad and it works but not up to date with the iOS because of how old it is. I don’t want to just throw it out. Do I take it to an Apple Store or is the a program for these things ??

or, if you just want to recycle it, then yes, you can leave it at an Apple Store.
