Share Internet via USB does not work (USB tethering)

Hello,

has anyone faced and solved the same problem when device (iPhone SE 2, iOS 15.4) connected to Windows 11 with latest iTunes installed, does not share the internet via USB cable? Sharing via WiFi works fine.

My steps are - run iTunes, connect USB, enable USB tethering on device option, click "Trust" on device and set the access code - as described in documentation, and it should work, but it hasn´t.

Aren´t there any drivers to be updated?

Thank you for any tip and trick.

iPhone SE, iOS 15

holubvl3,

Have you been able to try the following step after connecting the iPhone via USB and selecting 'Trust': "In your computer’s network preferences, choose iPhone, then configure the network settings."

This will be in the "Connect a Mac or PC to your Personal Hotspot" section here for referencing: Share your internet connection from iPhone

Be sure to see if the iPhone shows up as a network location in the list there too.

If it persists, try toggling off Personal Hotspot on the iPhone, and disconnect it from the PC. Then, restart both devices, re-enable Personal Hotspot, and connect it back to the device.

Cheers.

Hi @JovonaP,

I´ve tried to restart iPhone, even restart its network settings. The iOS is 15.4 so it should be latest.

Well I am not sure, what network preferences you think of. Tried it in situation when the Windows was in offline mode (no ethernet cable, no WiFi), then run iTunes, connect the USB and enable USB hostspot on the phone.

The iTunes detect the phone correctly, everything seems to be working, except the internet. Don´t know if I must enable USB tethering also on the Windows side, or what to check.

I tried the windows Troubleshoot, but it didn´t find any issues on the Windows 11. Cannot find other pre-requisites what must be there on Windows - for example if RNDIS device must be present among devices - it´s not present there even the phone is attached, don´t know what to look for.

If you would have any further ideas, they are welcome.

Thank you.

Have a nice day too.

Hello,

well I don´t see iPhone after enabling the internet sharing via USB

also it´s strange that it don´t want to submit a "Trust" today. But iTunes see the device and I can get to pictures directly, so it seems to be fine.

It behaves that same way regardless any restart :(

As I recall what I did in the past - it´s possible that the sharing has stopped to work with some update of Apower Mirror on Windows. So I uninstalled the Appower Mirror there, but it hasn´t helped.

So I am suspicious to some drivers issue, but for now without a luck.
