Mistakenly erased internal volume step 8 Intel erase instructions, can’t restore OS

MacBook Pro 2017; latest Monterey. I have nuke and paved a hundred times but totally screwed this one up. am ancient school.

I have tried internal computer sources, then internet as per directions. Must need that erased volume.

I think I need to reformat HD from external source hard wired. Used to use something like disk warrior for this sort of thing; target mode etc.

can I use another Mac to do this? How? Any help appreciated

Thank you. I had to create a bootable thumb drive using my son’s Mac and the Terminal which is always scary for me. That allowed me to install the original High Sierra.


Big Note: in order to further update to Monterey, I had to RENAME the default “Update” name that the first installation leaves you with. I was told “Macintosh HD” so used it and solved frustrating hang-ups.
