There are no indicators on the remote to show it is charging. You will need to read the charge level on the Apple TV: Settings﹥Remotes and Devices﹥Remote﹥.

New remotes should be partly charged, depending on how long ago they left the factory.


Charge your Siri Remote - Apple Support

Charge the remote from a USB port on a computer, or from a power adapter in an AC outlet (like a phone charger). The Siri Remote takes about 2.5–3 hours to fully charge.
