Where did my pictures go?

I recently just purchased a iPhone 13 pro. I asked the representative to make sure that my pictures on my old phone didn't transfer over to my new phone because specifically I wanted certain pictures to stay on my other phone. Randomly I just looked at my pictures on my other phone and they are gone.

Apple support don't know why and can't rescue them. It is photos from June last year to March this year, so not even resent photos.
