Logic Pro X

This is not a solution, as indicated below, the app store does now permit any option to download the install package period, for example specifically to the download folder or folder of your choice. However I must confess on the machine I purchased Logic Pro X , if I delete the Logic Pro App, then click download in the App Store, It will allow me to download an earlier version (a dialog box explains this lets me proceed or cancel, (Catalina system), but on my MacBook Pro that I just set up with Catalina, and of course logged in to my apple id, it would not provide that option (no pop up dialog with download earlier version option). That would mean the apple servers are keeping track of exact hardware unit that purchased the application in the first place and will only allow a earlier download from the system that purchased the software, I think I solved the issue by dragging the application package in the applications folder from the iMac to the MacBook pro and the 10.6.1 version seems to be working ok. But I must say this is very unprofessional.

Your response, and there are hundreds just like yours on the internet, is not valid in the particular scenario.

The laptop in this controlled test was upgraded to Catalina, OK so far so good, my main computer is a iMac with Catalina, Ok so far so good, when i task as you recommended, Logic as indicated on the app store, NO LONGER SUPPORTED ON CATALINA, the message and remedy as indicated, upgrade to Big Sur. (now of course, I DO NOT WANT TO DO THAT)

Ok, so now, not a hypothetical, when proceeding, the laptop will be running big sur, the iMac will be running Catalina, and the Logic Pro x versions will of course be different, (MacBook has the newer version, iMac has an older version.

I can go on and on with these scenarios, Fact is, in a production environment this is not acceptable:

WHAT I WANT, in other words, what the customer wants, is to be able to download and install the older version on my laptop which I just upgraded to Catalina yesterday March 25, 2022.

Steinberg Cubase company provides an excellent feature, where the download and assistant program provides you the ability to install older versions of Cubase, very very nice, thank you Steinberg corporation.

Your procedure is not valid, because you cannot, SHALL I SAY VERY CLEARLY, READ THIS SENTENCE VERY CLEARLY AND PRECISELY: THE USER DOES NOT have the option of downloading a earlier version. The Apple Computer App Store does not allow the user to view and download earlier versions of the Logic Pro X software AND, to add, I believe the standard operation procedure with apple computer on THIER SERVER END, is to remove a earlier version of a flag ship program, such as 10.6.x,

when a newer version is released. (and we never know when i new version will be released, and therefore will never know when the older version will be removed from Apple Computers download servers, via the app store.

Now, read this sentence very carefully, as of today, March 26 2022, when I go to my iMac running Catalina, and run the App store application, and proceed to my account icon area, when I view "PURCHASED" page, I can see Logic Pro X with date of purchase underneath application title "Logic Pro", fine, very good: But, below purchase date, the only option is "OPEN" with a white oval background; I cannot down load the version that I installed in January of 2021, the app store will only allow me to Open the app, Delete the app, or HIDE THE PURCHASE, very interesting,

ONE OTHER CRITICAL POINT, when I click, even you click on your end, (or anybody for that matter) the LOGIC PRO X title in app store, on description page, very top just below star rating, the next line clearly states centered on page "Requires macOS 11.5 or later".

So, hypothetically speaking, (because you cannot demonstrate a life insurance policy, which requires death to demonstrate;

IF I delete my existing 10.6.1 Logic Pro X application from the applications folder,

and then do as your recommend, go to the app store to as you say "download the last compatible version", I will be forced to upgrade the system to Big Sur OS version 11.5 as previously stated. So the hypothetical I just stated is no good for a production environment. The apple computer business model of not allowing access to the earlier installer is a revenue business unit, or a business strategy for maximizing revenue as apposed to customer service oriented to allow users to reinstall application versions purchased legitimately.

Ok, so your statement "download the last compatible version", well, THE APP STATE DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO DOWNLOAD THE LAST COMPATIBLE VERSION!!, the app store only allow the user to download the LATEST VERSION, OK.

The only exception to this rule, apple computer will provide (at their discretion) links on their web site for Catalina os, or even Majave -- and these links take you to specific locations on the app store where interestingly enough you can indeed download the Mojave os installer if you desire, even though it is no longer supported.

I could be wrong, but when a user installs Logic (and other prog) additional install folders are in the systems folders

For example: library, applications support, logic

Here is the reason for my inquiry, I just purchased a used matchbook, carbon copied from old MacBook to new MacBook, then upgraded os to Catalina (the old MacBook maxed out at High Sierra) Everything good so far, but when I went to install logic, the version that I happily use on my iMac (which is Catalina) no longer available, version 10.6.1

So I did what i was told reluctantly and upgraded to big sur on the new MacBook, but my oddity ARP odyssey vst is not compatible with cubase 11 old logic running big sur. Cubase 10.5 works.

These types of scenarios are unacceptable for a musician, I already spent 8 ours on this when I should be playing chord progressions.

I suppose I can do testing and drag a copy of logic from my iMac to a Catalina test system but this highly unproductive:

As a paid for user of Logic, customers should have the original disks or install files,

Luckily Cubase 10.5 works like a champ, this Logic situation is not good, if you look online you find hundreds of blogs maybe bout a hundred videos of users struggling to install a older version, then looking on line for the download package,

Then you find some technicians claiming there is a hidden folder where apple places the install program then deletes it.
