Connect to iOS 15 Hotspot from MacOSX 10.6

iOS 15 has broken hotspot functionality on iPhone 8: now on 10.6.x and earlier it is mistakenly seen as 802.1x network asking for username, which obviously does not exist.

So neither Intel machines on 10.6.8 can connect nor PowerBooks on 10.6 PPC, 10.5.8 or 10.4.11.

How to solve that? iPhone hotspot is the only internet connection I have at home.

Hello barracuda156,

When you see that, has the connection been deleted? Are you able to use any other method of Personal Hotspot (Bluetooth, USB)?

Restart one of your Macs and try the steps here if possible: How to set up a Personal Hotspot on your iPhone or iPad

Also, try the steps here as well: If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular)

Take care!

Thank you for reply. I am aware how to set up the hotspot, and it is working otherwise (with my MacMini on Catalina, for example). The problem exists with older systems now (<10.7), which I need for development and testing. Sadly, neither BT nor USB are supported in this case. Wi-Fi was the only option which was working perfectly – until Apple broken it with iOS 15.
