Why does my contact AF appear at the top of my text message thread like this?

Hello MFitzp,
It looks like what you're referencing is a pinned conversation. This keeps it at the top of the list always, which can be used to quickly access it. If you don't wish to have it pinned, go ahead and tap and hold on the pinned conversation, and select 'Unpin'.
