Can't get rid of the red notification iPhone for payment

Red notification with the number "1" on iPhone and iPad. I updated payment details for the iPad and red number is no longer there. But on the iPhone, even though the new payment info has been imported and is accurate, the little red 1 won’t go away. Both iPhone and iPad are up to date, restarted, no other problems. On the iPhone if I click on the red number (which is next to "Update payment details"), the screen blinks and doesn't take me anywhere. I have to click on my apple ID and then I can see my payment info. Thank you for any help.

Hey marlena132,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. From what we understand, the iPhone isshowing a badge notification on the Settings app. The payment information was updated on the iPad, and it's not experiencing the issue.

If you continue to access the issue, force close the Settings app using the steps below:

"Double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app."

To confirm, the iPhone is running iOS 15.4, correct. If not, use the steps here to make sure you have a current backup and ensure to have the latest version installed: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

We appreciate you for verifying that information for us. We suggest to sign out of your Apple ID account and to sign back in. From there, let's see if the badge notification continues to appear on the iPad.

To perform this step on the iPad, please go to Settings > tap your name at the top > Sign Out. Then, sign back in with your Apple ID and see if that helps.

Thank you Sheree for the response. I have tried various shut downs and restarts, clearing recent apps, and the red "one" is still there. The payment sources I use are still there, valid, and there is no mention that there is a problem with them. It still gives a message of "update payment details." Yes I am running iOS 15.4 and it shows it is the latest update.
