imovie for ipad storage issues

In running IMOVIE on my IPAD, I am deleting projects when I am finished with them (after exporting the project and the completed movie to an external drive).

But the size of the IMOVIE storage is outrageously high, as if the rendered files from any movies/projects I have exported and now deleted, are still on the IPAD... somewhere.

Is deleting the IMOVIE app the only way to clean this up?

In scanning through previous answers, I do not see one for this issue and I see it come up in different ways.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
