Airdrop does not show on my finder drop down. Where can I find it MacBook Air

My MacBook Air doesn't show Air Drop on finder. All the instructions I read assume AirDrop is there to click. Not so. Where do I find it?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.2

To show AirDrop in the Finder Sidebar, in Finder Preferences, click the Sidebar icon and enable AirDrop in the Favorites section.

Ah. That worked. Except my MacBook doesn't receive pics sent from my iPhone. Just get "Waiting..." when I click on MacBook icon to receive pic from iPhone. Suggestions?
