Itunes playlist

I am looking to get a new laptop and will have to switch my itunes to that new laptop. The last time I did this I lost my playlists, CD music that I downloaded and had to start all over again to attach these to my IPOD to listen. How do I not go thru this again?

One of the regular contributors here (turingtest2) has written a useful article on this. See Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community


Basically, you need to copy the entire Music folder (including the iTunes control files) on your current computer and add it to your new laptop.
