imap is receiving, smtp is sending. :)

Quit Mail.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Start Mail, any diff?

What is the Gmail Attachment Size Limit?

The Gmail attachment size limit for incoming emails is 50 MB. That means you can accept emails from other people of up to 50 MB.

But when it comes to uploading files and sending an email, the upper limit is 25 MB.

But that 25 MB limit is based on the actual size of your email message – not the size of the file on your disk. When you upload a file into Gmail, your attachment needs to be re-encoded into a new format (MIME).

Because of this, the size of your attachment can practically double. That means the “real” Gmail attachment size limit is roughly 12.5 MB on disk.

Save boot took long, but no difference with Mail, still have "Downloading e-mails" in Activity window while I haven't received nor sent e-mails. This is appearing for a couple of months and I wonder if this is delaying Apple Mail performance, this is my only concern, and that's why I asked the Community if this seen on other systems as well.

Normal boot and same situation as before, Mail Activity window indicates "Searching for e-mails" and keeps showing this message...

Mail log shows "imap.gmail.com-CF12D5F0-B619-45E4-918C-85C8CBD7C915.txt" of 548.5MB = 0.6MB bigger than 5hrs ago...

Cannot find the limit of e-mail MB with Google Mail but I seldomly receive or send e-mails with sizes of >5MB.

Thanks for help and suggestions, best regards, Hans.
