Mail on Mac drafts duplicating after sent

I don't know how to stop this problem from happening. Using IMAP on Mac Sierra. Many, but not all emails get multiplied after sent. I don't use iCloud for mail. There is no option to turn off saving drafts on server, but after I delete them, sometimes they all reappear.

Every so often, after sending an email that I may have been drafting for a while, I notice that earlier drafts remain in the drafts mailbox and do not automatically expunge. When using the Zoho webmail client to send mail, this does not happen - the draft automatically disappears after the final email is sent. This seems like an error with Mac Mail. Has anyone else encountered it and (if so) do you have suggestions on how to fix. There was a thread on this some years ago at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8325269 but the issue was not resolved.

IMAP synchronising mail with host server Unable to get my deliberately deleted emails in Mail to delete on host server (IMAP connection) using my newer Mac book (Mojave). IONOS.CO.UK is host and they have spent several hours looking into this and have stated it is a Mac issue. I agree as my older Mac book still synchronising deleting emails on host server through IMAP. What's the fix on newer macbook (mojave)? Thanks

Mac Mail duplicating emails My Mac Mail app on my MacBook Pro M1 shows some but not all emails duplicated. iCloud does not show duplicates, nor does my iPhone. When I click one of the duplicates, I can forward, file, delete it, etc., but the duplicate will not load when I click on it. I cannot file or delete it until after quitting the Mail app and starting it again. I've tried reloading Ventura from safe mode, which did not fix it. Any ideas? This is very frustrating.

I tried the Rebuild option, and so far, that seems to have worked. So strange.
