Mass Import of Pictures from Shared Albums?

Hi All,

I was going through my Photos app and realized that while I have many shared albums, I don't get to see those images in my Library as they're not technically imported. I was wondering if there was an easy or automated way I could import all photos (that I did not add to the Shared Album, since these pictures are already in my personal Library) that others have added to all Shared Albums into my Library?

I'm also not quite how to go about this if I wanted to do it manually as it doesn't allow to sort / filter Shared Albums by who uploaded. If I chose to import every pictured from all my Shared Albums manually, would I get the chance to avoid importing pictures already in my Library? I'd love to avoid duplicate pictures.

I assume that you sure not the owner/originator of those shared albums. If you were then you should have those photos already in your library.

Note that there are some reduction in ice; dimensions that occur wenever photos are uploaded to a shared album: photos are reduced to 2048 pixels on the long edge, except panoramic photos, which can be up to 5400 pixels wide.

I know I already have the pictures that I've uploaded to the Shared Albums, but I'm wondering if there's a process where I can import the pictures others have added to Shared Albums. I don't want to just import every picture from every Shared Album into my Library because that would mean just re-importing many of the pictures I already have

There is no way to do what you want. As you have found, there is no way to sort by who added the photo so no way just to select the ones not currently in your library.

In any case as pointed out by OT, shared album images are reduced in quality. Surely far better to get your contributors to send you full size images via some other means (eg an iCloud shared folder).

If you still want to use shared albums, I'd suggest for the future having separate albums for you to add to from the albums your contributors add to.

Personally I've only been able to download what others have add one at a time.
