Final Cut Pro X - footage is glitching

Hello,

I imported footage into a project in FCPX. But they start glitching (the clip moves, then stops for less than a second and this for the whole clip). What can I do to stop this?

How is the drive formatted? How is it connected to your mac? This is a hard drive and not an SSD, right? If you create a library and import some media using your ma’s internal drive, I am thinking that it does not suffer from the same problem.

Maybe the drive is slow and not formatted for the mac; FCP does not like drives formatted as FAT or ExFAT.

The drive is formatted in HFS+, it's an HD and is connected with a USB-C. I just formatted my drive to HFS+ because other apple community members said that that was the best option for editing and stuff.

And I could import the media using my macs internal drive, but my mac doesn't have enough storage for these clips, so if it's possible, I would like to import it from my drive. :)

So is everyone still piling on how this guy asked the questions are has anyone actually got an answer to why imported footage (proxies especially) become glitchy and unuseable. Having to constantly delete proxies and remake them until FCP decides it will make useable ones is getting old. Also, YOU CAN SEE PROXIES IN THE APP. Just turn all proxies on in browser and you will either see them or the red error box in place of the clip. Sorry for the salt but this is a big problem and every forum post I find is the same roundabout answers with no solutions.

The OP said nothing at all about glitchy or unusable proxies. They seemed to have a problem making proxies or getting them to appear. The description that was given seemed to indicate that they thought the optimized and proxy files would appear as separate items in the application.

I've not seen the problem you're describing reported before. Perhaps you'd like to start again.
