Bluetooth headset - "Connection Rejected"

Having lots of problems keeping my Open Run Shokz headset connected to my MacBook pro. It keeps dropping out and shows the status as "connection rejected" rather than "not connected" or "connected". I've repaired about 5 times according to the instructions. It lasts for a couple of minutes and then drops out again. I've googled everything under the sun about this and see no helpful solutions.

We found these steps from the manufacturer for a connection related issue:

Nearly all connectivity issues are resolved with a manual reset. You can perform a manual reset on your headphones by following these instructions:
1. Start with your headphones powered off.
2. Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Your headphones will turn on, and then the LED light will flash red and blue.
3. Press and hold the multifunction button, volume+ button and volume- (all three buttons) button simultaneously for 3-5 seconds. You'll hear beeps and/or feel vibrations. This may take several attempts.
4. Turn your headphones off.
Your headphones are now reset and can be re-paired to your device. In addition, we suggest turning the phone off and back on again before beginning the pairing process.
