My MacBook Pro is losing power while plugged in.

Why is my MacBook Pro losing power even when plugged in? The only ports are 4x USB-C. And one small circle port.

My original search results say to reset something and then it ask if you have a detachable battery or T2 ? I don’t believe it has a detachable battery but

How do you tell if you have the T2 ?

If you haven't yet, try plugging in the power adapter to the upper (closest to the display) left USB-C port. Is it charging now?

And one small circle port.

That should be the headphone port.

How do you tell if you have the T2 ?

You have two methods:

  1. Click on the Apple icon on the macOS menu bar. Then hold down the option key and click on System Information... On the left side window, select Hardware > Controller. If it has a T2 chip it will be listed here.
  2. Use this link: Mac models with the Apple T2 Security Chip - Apple Support

Which exact model is your MacBook Pro? The troubleshooting tip I believe you are referring to would be to reset the Mac's SMC...and that was covered in the support article you arrived here from.
