How to report Apple reseller

Hi,

Apple reseller in my country sold me iPhone with modified hardware made for surveillance.

How to report this Apple reseller? Unfortunately, there is no official Apple store or official Apple support line in my country.

Any info is welcome.

Thanks.

I looked it up, and it comes up as an iPhone 11, 64 GB in red. The last 4 corresponds to official distribution in Serbia, along with revision A (most Apple products are revision A). That is most definitely a gray market device. Whoever sold it to you was not an authorized reseller.

The first letter indicates that it was sold as new by Apple or an authorized reseller but wasn't refurbished or a replacement device according to Apple. But some devices are refurbished by third parties, and they can't access the means to modify the model number that Apple or its contract manufacturers have.

See -> Wireless carrier support and features for iPhone in the United States and Canada - Apple Support the fine print footnotes refers to whom provides support in your country.

This link will find ALL Apple authorized sellers for you -> Apple - Find Locations

Unfortunately you live in a country with a limited Apple sales and support presence, so your options are limited.

As far as I can tell, the only authorized sellers in your country are those two supported carriers (link one above) that provide support.

One unfortunate aspect when you’re the consumer is any seller can claim to be an Apple Authorized Seller. But if they do not come up in the “find a reseller” link on Apple’s own web site, they are NOT an Apple Authorized seller, regardless of what they claim or advertise.

There are plenty of sellers who claim to be authorized but are in fact not, especially in countries like yours where Apple’s own company presence and Authorized retail presence is limited.

As always with such posts, it would help responders to your post if you would simple mention what country you are in.

Yes, I already knew that. That’s a reason why I have posted all these questions here. In my country there are couple of companies which advertising themeself as authorized sellers including AT Store, Mekline, ZiS and others. I don’t have any information about m:tel and Blicnet and their authorized reseller status?! On official Apple web site there is nothing on them or any other reseller.

Thank you anyway, but it seems that this is dead end. :)

Thank you one more time.

Thank you very much for your help. Like you said, unfortunately there is very limited support in my country and it is dead end. I made some diagnostic and got result where it says “unknown sales model” which is also very weird.

Thank you very much.

Yes, you are right. I also got almost same information. I was knew that device is for south-east Europe region but I didn’t know it was made for Serbia.

I bought this iPhone in AT Store company which is highly advertised as Apple authorized reseller.

Diagnostic results didn’t show any component replacement but still I’m pretty sure that hardware configuration is upgraded which will be inspected by device opening.

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes you are right. This seller was Authorized reseller but it seems he is not anymore. For me is not problem to buy iPhone from unauthorized reseller, if I don’t have other option, but the problem is when iPhone is not regular.

I will use all available options against this reseller to compensate money I invested.

Thank you one more time. :)

On the link you sent me I am not able to find my country: Bosnia and Herzegovina (Europe). Company where I bought my iPhone is advertised as Authorized reseller.
