Reinstall OS X El Capitan without Apple ID?!

Unable to reinstall El Capitan. I have created a new Apple ID but still says not able to connect?

The Mac has become corrupt, when one startsup it does'nt open MAC OS, open screen asking to reinstall or disk utility. I have followed numerous steps to install. Nothing works.

Not even able to create a bootable USB as no other MAC device to create on.

Any ideas how to get this installed? No access to the previous user so just sitting with MAC pc unable to use.

First step before using recovery to reinstall would be to run disk utilities in recovery to repair the drive. If you are reinstalling from recovery, it should not be asking for your Apple ID. Are you reinstalling from recovery? Command R at startup or The Option Key to boot Menu and pick recovery drive. What is the exact message you are receiving? Also what year and model Mac is this? If having trouble connecting to the Apple Server, try using ethernet.

Hey there ruann81,

If you're unable to reinstall macOS from this screen, try one of the other options to install found below:

"Other macOS installation options

When you install macOS from Recovery, you get the current version of the most recently installed macOS, with some exceptions:

  • On an Intel-based Mac, you can use Shift-Option-Command-R during startup to be offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available. Or you can use Option-Command-R during startup to be offered either the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac, or in some cases the macOS that came with your Mac or the closest version still available.
  • If the Mac logic board was just replaced, you might be offered only the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.
  • If you just erased your entire startup disk, you might be offered only the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.

You can also use these methods to install macOS, if the macOS is compatible with your Mac:
