Getting several "unknown browser" security alerts, Safari 15.4

I routinely use Safari for all sorts of things, as many of us do (sometimes Chrome, sometimes Opera); but now, during authentication, I am getting several "unknown browser" warnings requiring previously unused TFA methods. Amazon just did it to me for the first time, gmail did it to me yesterday....

Does anyone know why this might be happening? I think the "IP address blocking" preference is set by default. I did not think that was new, newish but not new (to 15.4). Is there something about Safari that is setting off alarms that I need to know about?

Download EtreCheck: https://etrecheck.com/  and post the report here.

Click, “Free Download” button and then  “Click to download” button,

open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar and select “Copy report”.

Click the “Page” button in the toolbar at the bottom of this page and paste it when you reply.

Note: This is a diagnostic test.
