Apple AirPods doesn't work on phone calls on Apple iPhone 12

Hi,

When I receive a call, while listening to music or podcast, the caller hangs up as there's no sound through the already connected AirPods before I can get the sound to work. Forget the fancy tap on the AirPods to receive the call. Doesn't work. And yes I have tried to forget device etc.

Apple should fix this issue. Call me old fashioned, but it seems important, when buying a USD 1000 phone that you can actually hear the caller. It worked fine before IOS 15.3.1

It is a bit confusing are you referring to Airpods or iPhone? Airpods don't cost USD 1000

If it is Airpods please get the battery level checked and recharge it.

Still not working. Just received a call yesterday with AirPods attached. When I answered the phone call, I had to choose iPhone speaker and then AirPods to get the sound flowing though the AirPods. Setup iPhone 12 and Apple AirPods. IOS 15.3.1.

The cost of the phone is not that relevant.

However the battery was just charged, so that's not the problem. I can see other user had this problem in 2017. The phone does NOT recognize the airpods for some reason.
