Receive error when trying to send a text message

Hello, I receive the following error when trying to send a Messages text message on my iPhone 13: "Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code."

I followed directions to delete all messages from the recipient including the error messages, and I deleted all recent call history. Problem persists because when I try to send a new text message by posting the 10 digit mobile number of the recipient, Messages always adds a +1 in front of the ten digit mobile number.

How can I prevent Messages from adding +1 in front of the mobile number that I type in?

iPhone 13, iOS 15

Hello Bigolino,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. To remove the 1 in front of a number, you may want to edit the contact you are sending a message to. Here is how to do that.
