Apple TV app on iMac crashes each time I try to play a downloaded movie

I've noticed many have commented on this same problem. I've just upgraded to Monterey 12.3 (from 12.2.1) on Apple's advice but nothing has changed. Streaming works perfectly but as soon as I click on a downloaded movie, the app crashes.

1 - Suggest restarting in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

4 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

5 - If the issue persists after follow all the steps in order - advise

Hello MHUGOM,

If you're not able to play downloaded movies in the Apple TV app, this link outlines some steps to take to help address that issue: If you can't watch or stream movies and TV shows in the Apple TV app

Since it seems like the application itself is closing unexpectedly on your Mac, please also review these steps for some additional information: If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac

• If an app doesn’t quit as expected, or it’s unresponsive, you can force quit the app (you may lose unsaved changes). Choose Apple menu  > Force Quit, select the app in the dialog that appears, then click Force Quit.
• If the app quit, reopen it by clicking Reopen in the dialog that appears.
• Restart your Mac by choosing Apple menu > Restart.
• Make sure the app is compatible with your version of macOS.
• Open another file in the app. There may be a problem with the original file.
Check for updates to your software.
• Disconnect any peripheral devices you just connected (for example, a printer). They may not be compatible with your version of macOS.
• Uninstall any app plug-ins or enhancements from other manufacturers.
If you recently updated the app or macOS, a plug-in or enhancement you installed may no longer be compatible.
Diagnose problems with your Mac to learn whether hardware you installed, such as additional memory, is incompatible, improperly installed, or defective.

Take care!
