iMac as Monitor?
Hey guys I’m using a 2018 MacBook Pro and I was wondering if I could use an iMac as a monitor or additional screen.
I might be able to arrange 2009, 2010 and 2011 iMacs
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.1

Note in the article that Dialbrain linked that 2009 and 2010 iMac must be 27-inch models to work with Target Display Mode (TDM). From 2011 to mid 2014, both 21.5- and 27-inch iMacs were supported.
Also the 2018 MacBook Pro can be running no higher than mac OS 10.15 Catalina.
I'll add that, for the cost of required cables and adapters (up to US$90) to make TDM work, you can probably buy a new external monitor that is far better than using any iMac as a monitor:
Many of us think Target Display Mode is dead for a reason. I would never buy a used iMac only to act as a monitor.
