No import button in Photos

No import button in Photos!! I am trying to import some photos from a stick drive using a USB adapter for my iPad. There is no import button in photos! I have gone all over the net looking for answers, and the ones I have found on the site are no help whatsoever! I have restarted my iPad and there’s still no import button in the photos. How in the heck am I supposed to download Photos from my thumb drives, so that I can in turn upload them to the cloud? This is frustrating the heck out of me! Some valid help would be greatly appreciated!

Is the system version given below your question still valid? iOS 9?

On more recent system versions you could browse the stick in the Files.app and save the photos to Photos. The Import button should be there in all more recent system versions as well: Import photos and videos to iPad – Apple Support (UK)
